What is chicago central and pacific railroad?

Chicago Central and Pacific Railroad (CC&P) was a Class II railroad which operated in the Midwestern United States. The railroad was created in 1996 when the Illinois Central Railroad merged with the Chicago, Central and Pacific Railroad. The CC&P was later sold to Canadian National Railway in 1998.

The Chicago, Central and Pacific Railroad was originally founded in 1887 as the Iowa Central Railway. Over the years, it expanded its rail network and was eventually acquired by the Canadian National Railway in a merger with Illinois Central Railroad. Today the CC&P's tracks are part of the Canadian National Railway network and serve many industries throughout the Midwest including agriculture, manufacturing, and energy.
